College of Engineering Pune (CoEP), an autonomous institute of the Government of Maharashtra State and affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, is one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in India. Established in 1854 at the confluence of the rivers Mula and Mutha, CoEP is the third oldest engineering college in Asia, after the College of Engineering, Guindy (1794) and IIT Roorkee (1847).

About Department of Electrical Engineering, CoEP
The Department was established in 1932 to run a UG program in electrical engineering. Subsequently, two PG programs namely Power Systems and Control Systems were introduced in 1952. Presently, the department runs a B.Tech program in Electrical Engineering and M.Tech programs in three specializations namely Power Electronics & Power Systems, Embedded Control, and Power Electronics, Machines & Drives. The Department presently has 22 faculty members and well-qualified supporting staff. It has well-equipped state of the art laboratories and excellent computational facilities. World class software's are available in the department to work on top-of-the-line projects in various areas of electrical engineering.
The department has the vision to be the leader in the Electrical Engineering education following the Institute footprints. The committed, qualified and experienced faculty is the strength of the department. Having the main focus on undergraduate and post-graduate programs, the department has developed strong research facilities and manpower in the areas like control system, power system, machines and drives, power electronics and its applications, demand side management, HVDC and FACTS, power quality, smart grid, microgrids, WAMs & PMU technology and renewable energy system. The research activities in the department lead to an extraordinary enrichment of the experience of our students that is realized at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
