Pune is the second largest city in the Indian state of Maharashtra and the ninth most populous city in the country. About College of Engineering Pune


College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) is one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in India. Established in 1854, it is the third oldest engineering college in Asia, after the College of Engineering, Guindy (1794) and IIT Roorkee (1847). It is located in Pune (formerly Poona), Maharashtra. In 2004, the institute was granted complete autonomy by the state government and declared a center for excellence in technical education. About Department of Electrical Engineering, CoEP


Electrical Engineering department of CoEP has the vision to be the leader in the Electrical Engineering education following the Institute footprints. The committed, qualified and experienced faculty is the strength of the department. Having the main focus on undergraduate and post-graduate programs, the department has developed strong research facilities and manpower in the areas like control system, permanent magnet machines, power system, machines, power electronics applications, smart grid, microgrids, WAMs & PMU technology and renewable energy system, after the autonomy. The Department hosts a diverse and vibrant research portfolio in areas such as Green Energy, Real-Time Robust Control of Under-Actuated Systems, Optimal Control of Power Flow, UPFC, Efficient PM machines, Fuzzy Controllers, Power Converters and Drives, Power quality analysis etc. The department also has excellent testing facilities in the area of high voltage engineering and testing of rotating machines. The research activities of our faculty lead to an extraordinary enrichment of the experience of our students that is realized at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Department has developed state of the art Machines Lab., Computer Center, Computations labs, Virtual Lab and equipment which are well appreciated and also replicated in many good institutes including few IITs. Developing a campus-wide microgrid and Real Time Digital System Simulation Lab is the immediate mission of the department. The department has few success stories wherein international students preferred this department to join under credit transfer scheme. Department has also organized few events in collaboration with foreign universities. Students as well industries prefer this department after few IITs. This year, the Department stood second in All India Council for Technical Education - Confederation of Indian Industries (AICTE-CII) survey for best Industry-Institute collaboration. The department has recently faced accreditation for the third time by the National Board of Accreditation after India become a permanent signatory of Washington accord and earned excellent comment and feedback. The department has good tie up with the international institute and other elite institutes across the country. Few institutes from the country and also from the SAARC countries have invited this department for academic collaboration. In past few years department performed well on almost every key performance indices and fetched substantial research grant. The Department of Electrical Engineering is also having Center of Excellence in Smart Renewable Energy Systems (SRES). The Center also builds on the existing excellence of the electrical and mechanical engineering programs and broadens the scope and expertise to meet the grand challenges in energy and environment.
